Who is Building Your House?

Standard

I was trying to think of an analogy for how one area of my life is going. After thinking about for a couple minutes I’ve realized that it’s like building a house. In this particular area of my life I think there is a good foundation. I also think there is good potential for a house to be built one day. There is only one problem though. In my head the blueprints have been destroyed. If I am being honest I have no clue how to build this house. I keep looking over at and comparing other people’s houses. I’m getting to a point where I feel frustrated, disappointed, and discouraged. I’m seriously contemplating giving up completely with this house and telling myself I’ll never be successful in this area of my life.

If you sympathize with my analogy then you will probably agree it’s not a fun place to be in. When I was in a moment of self-pity about this area of my life I felt like God made me realize something. I realized I don’t know how to build a house at all. If I tried to build a house it wouldn’t turn out very good. I’d probably end up making things a lot worse instead of making it better. Instead of me trying to build the house it would probably be a lot better to hand the situation to someone skilled in building houses. I realized that God is skilled in building houses. I have been wracking my brain trying to make this situation work on my own. I don’t know if you know this, but any area that your are struggling with God has already solved before. You might be losing sleep over finances, relationships, sickness, grief, etc. God can solve any of these problems. Actually he can solve any of the problems you are facing.

One way we can trust this is that we can look at God’s track record. Have you seen God make things better than you thought could happen? I know I have seen God do this.

I’m someone that doesn’t like to ask for help. I want to do everything myself. This applies with my relationship with God also. In my head I think I need to figure everything out. Instead I should trust that God has already figured it out, and I should have him show me how the house will be built.
