Dealing with Rejection

Standard

Rejection is something that I think every human has dealt with at some point in their lives. There can be many forms of rejection that can occur in a person’s life. I think the past couple of weeks for me has been a season of rejection in multiple ways.

I have been rejected by a group of people I considered my friends. I have been hanging out with these people for the past couple of months, and I recently realized that this has been an unhealthy environment for me. I have chosen to walk away from this group. Now I won’t say these people are bad people, and I still consider multiple of them to be my friends. I realized it might be better to spend time with these friends in different environments though.

I’ve also unfortunately have been rejected by the guy I have liked for most of the summer. I can honestly say that this guy broke my heart. I realized now that if we were to get into a relationship with each other it wouldn’t be a good thing for either of us. So I know this rejection is a blessing in my life as well. I don’t know who God has for me as a possible spouse, but I pray and I am confident that he will be a better fit for me than this guy could have been.

Even though rejection hurts in our lives it’s a necessary part of life. My mother is a wise woman. One of her phrases that she has instilled in me is, “God’s rejection is God’s protection”. In both of these situations I have seen this phrase to be true. I don’t know how these areas will play out in my life at this point, but I look forward to the blessings that will come in these areas.
